Friday Art #11 (and a few words about Choice Of games)

I Met Inari

Today’s art is freehand drawn digital art done on Paint Shop Pro 9 with a Wacom tablet and stylus. “I Met Inari” is inspired by the beautiful description of that very meeting in the game, Fox Spirit, A Two-Tailed Adventure written by Amy Claire Fontaine and published through Choice of Games.

Fox Spirit is a text based adventure game where you get to play a spirit fox, or kitsune. I just started it today, but I am very pleased with the beautiful descriptions of just about everything. Being a fox is well characterized as far as senses and sensations. The adventure does lead you a bit in that before you make each choice it does line out, well you could do this, or that, or that. This game allows you to choose to become a servant of Inari, or a trickster, or a downright naughty fox spirit. I admit, I peeked at the possible achievements and decided to follow the path of an exceptionally goody two shoes Goddess devoted, peace loving fox. Of course, I’ll go through later as the trickster and outright baddie. It looks like we are coming to a showdown between the Goddess’ servant foxes, humans of the town and even the kingdom, and some wild fox spirits of the forest who are tired of humans killing foxes and disturbing the balance of nature. I keep telling both sides there must be some peaceful way to negotiate for harmony. I think the wild fox spirits are planning guerilla warfare. And there’s this one fox spirit – with a tanuki helper – who seems to have an agenda of a different kind that I haven’t quite figured out yet! It is one of the best Choice of Games selections I have played yet. So far.

Have a great weekend! Blessedbe

  1. I do like that picture a lot! I need to get some pratice with my Wacom draw pad, but I dont have a proper working space yet! But soon I will! I might even practice some drawing and then I can make more pictures for my blog!

The text based adventure sounds lovely! Is it on Steam?

    1. The Wacom is great. I’m on my 3rd and have loved (and used) them to death. What I need to do is gather my courage and learn to use a newer and more up to date drawing program. I tend to find something I like and stick with it and of course, now we’re supposed to update every other day, and what happened is a competing company bought PSP and killed it. Grrrrr. So now it doesn’t really work properly. Sigh.

The adventure – well I have it on the phone from Google Play – you download their app “Choice Of Games” and then they have an endless seeming library of games to choose from. Most are quite reasonable, with some being free, and many you can play free if you will watch an ad or wait for the next chapter to open. I keep meaning to do a proper blog about them. I like their games because the writing is excellent and they have different endings, yes, but they don’t KILL you on all but one of them. In fact, I think I’ve only died once in all the games I’ve played. 😀
